This year the Routes Europe event was held at the Hannover Congress Centrum.
The day before the event started saw the HAJ Hannover Marathon taking place with a few delegates and Routes staff taking part. We just took pics and filmed it, I think I left my running shoes at home…..
When delegates arrive they will either register online at the self help stations or get helped by the Routes staff.
When entering the exhibition hall you will receive some useful info and even a magazine of the previous day’s events.
The Diary Advice desk was super busy on day one with all the delegates trying to book their time slots with meetings from various airlines, airports, tourism authorities etc.
The Airline Meeting Halls where all the serious business takes place. There are of course some lighter moments.
Opening remarks done by Steven Small, Brand Director, Routes followed by the opening keynote address by Sabine Tegtmeyer-Dette, Director of Economic and Environmental Affairs and First City Councillor, City of Hannover; followed by David Stroud, Managing Director, ASM and then followed by Wolfgang Reuss, SVP Network Management, airBaltic.
How is this unique coffee station. There was a long queue all day, everyday.
I get claustrophobic just looking at that car.
The airline meeting halls are always busy which is obviously good as everyone is there to do business.
There are areas where you can just take a seat and have a cup of coffee or have an informal meeting.
Some really interesting talks took place in the Keynote Theatre and unfortunately I never got a chance to hear them from start to finish as I was always needed in 2 places at once.
A good smile is always helpful when starting a meeting.
The Routes Europe opening ceremony was held at the New Town Hall Hannover. What an amazing building.
The LOdz Airport stand showing off their super snazzy socks that they were handing out. They also handed out Kufka which is a combination between fudge and toffee. The most unbelievable sweet I have ever tasted. Thankfully they gave me a whole goodie bag full as a thank you for taking some pics. The bag lasted about 2 days at home sadly.
The London City Airport stand.
The Networking and Awards evening was held at The Royal Gardens in Hannover Herrenhausen which is considered to be one of the most beautiful garden parks in Europe. It was quite spectacular outside and inside.
I obviously didn’t get the memo as I certainly wasn’t dressed like this.
The prestigious awards to be handed out later in the evening.
There was an area outside the venue that was setup like a circus with all sorts of entertainment and food stalls.
The King of the Hammer was a big “hit” with a lot of guests. I even had a go and was happy to make it to within about 2 inches of ringing the bell. You have to hit that spot on the piece of wood with every bit of energy and timing that you have. I was nervous as I thought I would end up hitting my ankle.
Delegates eagerly awaiting the awards ceremony whilst enjoying some local cuisine.
All the awards winners on the evening.
The fireworks were quite spectacular or even over the top at times.
What an amazing venue.
The second hall was used after the awards for a local band that performed some cover versions of the latest pop songs. It was so tempting to just sit down and enjoy the show but the thought of having to still go back to our apartment to edit the whole day’s work just ruined the moment.
The restaurant outside of the main halls looked beautiful at night.
Cheers to the hosts, Hannover Airport, as well as the Routes team who organised the entire event.
The handover of the Routes Europe event with Steven Small, Brand Director, Routes; Mayor and CEO of the City of Hanover Stefan Schostok; and Jasper Spruit Sales, Marketing & Business Development, Avinor.
